Sauna

Sauna (2008) is a Finnish historical horror you can watch online on iFILM. Director Antti-Jussi Annila drops you into the swampy backcountry of 1595, where Sweden and Russia have just drawn a new border.

A long war between the two empires is finally over, and a small commission is mapping the frontier. Among them are two brothers: Knut, a hardened soldier who has killed more men than he can count, and Erik, a young scholar with no taste for blood. In a remote village they do something that cannot be forgiven, and the ghost of a dead girl begins to follow them across the marshes. Their one hope is a sauna said to wash away any sin.

Annila builds a slow, clammy nightmare where the dread grows out of guilt rather than jump scares. Ville Virtanen carries the weight of the film as the older brother.
