Synopsis
One Day in Istanbul (2024) is a Russian comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Four longtime friends fly to Istanbul to reunite with their pal Vadim, only to find out he has died. A cheerful trip turns into an impromptu wake.
The cast comes straight from the popular Kvartet I troupe — Leonid Barats, Kamil Larin, Rostislav Khait and Alexander Demidov — and they do what they do best: loose, overlapping male banter that slides between laughter and grief. Wandering the city's streets, the four men trade absurd stories from years past, bicker over nothing, and slowly feel how thin the line is between a good joke and a goodbye. Director Avet Oganesyan keeps the tone gentle rather than maudlin.
