Terminator Zero (Season 1)

Terminator Zero (2024) is an anime series from Netflix and Production I.G that you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Masashi Kudō. The setting is Japan, 1997 — the year before Judgment Day. A soldier arrives from a devastated future with one objective: keep Malcolm Lee alive long enough to finish his work.

Malcolm is building an artificial intelligence meant to oppose Skynet's coming assault on humanity. The logic is sound. The timing is not. An unstoppable machine has followed the soldier back, and it is already moving through the city. Malcolm's three children get caught in the crossfire, and the lives they had before that night are gone. Meanwhile, Malcolm sits with the problem that no one around him wants to acknowledge — that he is building exactly the kind of thing that ends the world, and hoping it does not.

Eight episodes, one season, no easy exits. Terminator Zero works as a standalone tragedy about people caught between two futures they did not choose.
