About

Synopsis

Patrick (2013) is an Australian horror thriller from director Mark Hartley that you can watch online on iFILM. A comatose patient who once murdered his own mother lies motionless in a private clinic — and still keeps showing signs of a waking mind.

Young nurse Kathy (Sharni Vinson), fresh out of a breakup, takes a job at Dr. Roget's secluded hospital, where hopeless patients become subjects for his dubious experiments. Her charge is the man in room 15, whose only movement is an involuntary spit. But Kathy grows certain that Patrick hears her, reaches toward her, and can shift objects and people with his mind without ever leaving the bed.

This is a remake of Richard Franklin's cult 1978 Ozploitation film. Hartley, best known for the documentary Not Quite Hollywood about Australia's wild 1970s cinema, moves the story into cold hospital corridors and gives it a gothic sheen. Charles Dance plays the doctor with his trademark icy calm. Creepy, slow-burn genre fare for anyone who likes a single sinister idea taken seriously. Stream Patrick online on iFILM.
