Synopsis
Return to Horror High (1987) is a tongue-in-cheek slasher comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Years back, an uncaught killer turned Crippen High into a bloodbath, and the school was shut down. Now a film crew rolls in to shoot a movie about the murders — on the very campus where they happened.
The producer wants the project to feel real, so he hires former school staff to play themselves. Bad idea. One by one, cast and crew start disappearing, and the line between the slasher they are filming and an actual killer dissolves. The story folds in on itself like a set of nesting boxes: a movie inside the movie, flashbacks, fake-out endings and a scrambled timeline that keeps you guessing what is footage and what is happening for real. Look for a baby-faced George Clooney in one of his earliest screen roles.
Director Bill Froehlich made a wink-at-the-audience slasher that mocks the genre's clichés years before Scream made that fashionable.
