Synopsis
Spontaneous (2020) is a horror-comedy you can watch online on iFILM. At Covington High, seniors start blowing up. Not metaphorically. They literally explode, one after another, with no warning and no pattern anyone can crack.
Director Brian Duffield plays the gore for laughs and then quietly breaks your heart. Mara (Katherine Langford) is sharp, sarcastic and unbothered until shy classmate Dylan (Charlie Plummer) confesses he likes her. Suddenly there's a reason to want tomorrow. The trouble is that tomorrow keeps killing her friends, and the adults in hazmat suits have no answers.
Based on Aaron Starmer's novel, the film swings from splatter chaos to a genuinely tender story about grief and growing up too fast. Yvonne Orji and Piper Perabo round out the cast. Stream Spontaneous (2020) online on iFILM.
