Dior and I
He has a new vision. They have eight weeks to craft it.
Synopsis
Dior and I (2015) is a fashion documentary you can watch online on iFILM. When Raf Simons takes over as creative director of Christian Dior, replacing John Galliano, he learns the news that frames the whole film: eight weeks to build his debut couture collection, instead of the usual several months.
Director Frédéric Tcheng follows Simons into the ateliers above the Avenue Montaigne, where seamstresses stitch every seam by hand and have done so for decades. The Belgian designer barely speaks French and doesn't sketch the way Paris expects. The camera catches the quiet dread, the stubbornness, and the rare moments when an idea finally becomes a dress.
Underneath the runway glamour sits an honest portrait of a craft kept out of public view: the older premières matter more here than any celebrity in the front row. Bernard Arnault watches the budget, and the final show — staged inside a mansion buried in fresh flowers — runs on the nerves of the entire house. If you want the machinery behind high fashion without the gloss, this one delivers. Stream Dior and I (2015) online on iFILM.
