Pure

Pure (Till det som är vackert, 2010) is Lisa Langseth's Swedish drama, available to watch online on iFILM. Twenty-year-old Katarina is stuck in a grim Gothenburg suburb with no job and no way out, until she stumbles into a performance of Mozart's Requiem that leaves her shaken and hungry for a different life.

The film marks Alicia Vikander's first leading role, five years before her Oscar-winning turn in The Danish Girl. Katarina lands a job at the concert hall, reinvents her past to fit in, and drifts into an affair with Adam, a married conductor played by Samuel Fröler. Each lie buys her closer to the world she craves and costs her more than she expected.

Langseth refuses easy uplift here. This is a quiet, sharp-edged story about a class divide you cannot cross without bleeding, and about beauty that can rescue you and wreck you in the same breath.
