Synopsis
I'm All Right Jack (1959) is a British satirical comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by John Boulting and anchored by Peter Sellers in one of the roles that made his career.
Ex-army man Stanley Windrush (Ian Carmichael) arrives in England expecting a family-connections shortcut to management and gets assigned to the factory floor of a munitions plant instead. Shop steward Fred Kite (Sellers) — a card-carrying communist who quotes Soviet pamphlets with genuine reverence — sees Stanley as ammunition against the board. The board sees Stanley as a strike-breaker. Both sides are equally self-serving. Windrush is the only person who doesn't know it.
The Boulting Brothers skewer trade unions and corporate management with the same wry contempt, and the film took home BAFTA Best British Film for 1959. Co-starring Terry-Thomas, Richard Attenborough and Margaret Rutherford — Sellers' Kite is the standout: pompous, principled and somehow oddly sympathetic. Stream I'm All Right Jack online on iFILM.
