Synopsis
Brighton Rock (1948) is a crime thriller from director John Boulting you can watch online on iFILM. In the seaside town of Brighton between the wars, a gang of teenage racketeers answers to a cold young psychopath who goes by Pinkie.
Pinkie wants to settle a score with a former partner who once sold him out, but the boys around him are too dim and too jumpy for clean work. The trail leads to Rose, a café waitress with a dangerously good memory for faces. To silence her, Pinkie decides to marry the girl, and she mistakes his calculating cruelty for love. Richard Attenborough was barely in his twenties here, and his sullen, dead-eyed stare became one of British cinema's most chilling pictures of evil.
Graham Greene adapted his own novel for the screen alongside Terence Rattigan. It's a benchmark of British noir — cheap cafés, the wet glare of the promenade, and a moral void hidden under a bright holiday postcard. A great pick for anyone who likes dark black-and-white films built on real suspense rather than cardboard villains. Stream Brighton Rock online on iFILM.
