Go West

Go West (1940) is a Marx Brothers comedy western you can watch online on iFILM. Three chancers head out to make their fortune on the frontier and wind up holding the deed to a worthless patch of land.

The plot is empty of gold — but a railroad needs to run straight through it, and suddenly that scrap of paper is worth a fortune. From there the deed keeps changing hands, dragging the trio into a feud between two families and the schemes of a pair of crooked land men. Groucho fires off the one-liners, Chico haggles over every nickel, and Harpo wrecks the place without saying a word.

A later MGM-era outing for the brothers, directed by Edward Buzzell, it's best remembered for a closing train chase in which the locomotive is torn apart for fuel as it races — one of the wildest gags they ever staged.
