Synopsis
The Shift (2021) is a European thriller from Alessandro Tonda that you can watch online on iFILM. Brussels, the tail end of a night shift. Paramedics Isabelle and Adamo are heading home when the call comes in: an explosion has torn through a school.
They pull an injured teenager named Eden from the scene — and only inside the ambulance does Isabelle feel the explosive belt under his jacket. He comes round with the detonator in his fist and orders them to drive his route. From there the whole film is locked inside the back of the rig: eighty-three minutes with no let-up, a medic forced to keep her patient alive and keep his thumb off the trigger at once. Clotilde Hesme carries the claustrophobic standoff on nothing but her eyes and ragged breath.
