Synopsis

The year is 1859. Settlers stake out lots for a town they mean to call Horizon, but the San Pedro Valley already belongs to the Apache, who will not give it up without blood. Several threads run alongside the founding: in Montana a woman shoots a man, takes a boy and runs, while in Wyoming horse trader Hayes Ellison stumbles into her trouble. Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone and Luke Wilson each carry separate storylines that slowly pull toward one another.
