Operation Cicero

Operation Cicero (Çiçero, 2019) — watch online on iFILM — is a Turkish historical spy drama directed by Serdar Akar. It reconstructs one of WW2's stranger true cases: Ilyas Bazna, an Albanian-born valet at the British Embassy in wartime Ankara, spent months photographing the ambassador's classified papers and selling them to Nazi Germany.

Berlin codenamed him Cicero. The documents were so sensitive that German intelligence initially doubted they were genuine. The film's turn is that Bazna was never simply a traitor — the Turkish government had its own stake in what he was doing.
