Danny Boy

Danny Boy (2021) is a British war drama from director Sam Miller, available to watch online on iFILM. It follows Brian Wood (Anthony Boyle), a soldier who came home from Iraq with a medal for bravery — and, years later, a charge sheet.

The trouble traces back to a firefight near a checkpoint in southern Iraq in the spring of 2004. Long after the shooting stops, human-rights lawyer Phil Shiner (Toby Jones) builds a case accusing Wood and his unit of murdering and abusing prisoners — a fight that grows into one of the largest public inquiries Britain has ever run. The film cares less about combat than about a man whose country pins a medal on him one day and puts him in the dock the next. Boyle and Jones play it cold and close, with no flag-waving.
