Synopsis
Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran (2018) is an Indian historical thriller you can watch online on iFILM. It dramatises how India pulled off a string of underground nuclear detonations in the Rajasthan desert in the spring of 1998, slipping the whole operation past foreign spy satellites.
Bureaucrat Ashwat Raina pitches the test plan, gets sidelined, and watches the project collapse. Years later he's handed one more chance to assemble a small team and finish the job — with American and Pakistani intelligence reading every shadow that crosses the range. John Abraham anchors the film as the stubborn man running the operation, with Diana Penty and Boman Irani alongside him. The tension lives in a clock, not a gunfight: bury the warheads and lay the cables in the narrow window while the satellite is below the horizon.
Director Abhishek Sharma skips the flag-waving for a jittery procedural about keeping a secret alive — soldiers as cover, code names borrowed from the Mahabharata, the dread that one leak buries everything. If you like spy stories built on fooling technical surveillance, this one delivers. Stream Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran (2018) online on iFILM.
