Bonn, the close of the 18th century. Eight-year-old Ludwig is already called a prodigy, yet lessons from his hard-drinking father are pure misery. Court organist Neefe and the actor Tobias Pfeiffer take him in and show him music as freedom rather than duty. From there come a meeting with Mozart, the road to Haydn in Vienna, unanswered love and the loss of family — and deafness that creeps in well before the fame does. Tobias Moretti plays the older composer; Colin Pütz and Anselm Bresgott share the younger years.
