Synopsis
Portlandia (2011–2018) is IFC's cult sketch comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein play dozens of characters across a single city: Portland, Oregon.
Eight seasons, no running plot — just sketches about people who take ethical eating, vintage bikes and their own mindfulness very seriously. The feminist bookstore owners. The couple grilling a waiter about the chicken's life story. The endless "we moved here for something real." The aim is brutally precise.
Brownstein and Armisen created the show and directed a number of episodes themselves; Kyle MacLachlan turns up as the mayor, with guest spots from Steve Buscemi, Jeff Goldblum and Kumail Nanjiani. It won a Peabody and grew into a near-ethnographic portrait of a whole urban type.
