Synopsis
Leave No Traces (Żeby nie było śladów, 2021) is Jan P. Matuszyński's historical thriller, ready to watch online on iFILM. Warsaw is still under curfew, and the authorities have a body on their hands: an eighteen-year-old beaten to death by a police patrol.
The year is 1983 and martial law grips the country. Grzegorz Przemyk, son of a poet tied to the Solidarity circle, dies two days after his arrest. Only one person stood beside him that night — his friend Jurek Popiel. The state works out the math fast: break the lone witness, and the whole case collapses. So the full apparatus comes down on Jurek, played by Tomasz Ziętek — surveillance, interrogations, pressure on his family, a smear campaign in the press. The film tracks not a loud protest but the slow suffocation of one young man by the machinery around him.
The script draws on the real investigation that rattled Poland and returned to court years later. At over two and a half hours it is heavy, draining viewing, yet it lays bare exactly how a regime erases an inconvenient truth. Stream Leave No Traces (2021) online on iFILM.
