Mr. K is a travelling magician who checks into a hotel and finds he cannot check out. The exits are there. The corridors go somewhere. He just never ends up outside. Every attempt to leave pulls him further into the building and deeper into the company of its increasingly peculiar guests. Schwab draws on Kafka not as a literary reference but as a structural principle: the hotel runs on the same airless, self-enclosed logic as The Trial, where the system is total and escape requires understanding rules that are never explained. Crispin Glover — lanky, uneasy, an actor who has always seemed slightly displaced in any ordinary context — is exactly right for a man trapped in a place that shouldn't exist.
