Synopsis
High Water (Wielka woda, 2022) is a Polish Netflix drama you can watch online on iFILM. July 1997: a flood crest is hours from Wrocław. The scientists have the numbers. The city officials have the politics. Nobody agrees on what to do next.
The "flood of the millennium" that hit southern Poland that summer left 56 people dead and hundreds of thousands displaced. Directors Jan Holoubek and Bartłomiej Ignaciuk built the series from declassified emergency records and firsthand accounts, not from disaster-movie conventions. Agnieszka Żulewska and Tomasz Schuchardt play two crisis specialists trying to push a decision through a system that would rather delay. Six episodes, no manufactured catharsis.
The series treats bureaucratic failure as the real disaster — not the water. Each wrong call forecloses the next option, and the tension comes from watching a city slowly run out of them. Stream High Water (2022) online on iFILM.
