Synopsis
Fish Story (フィッシュストーリー, 2009) is a Japanese drama-comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Tokyo, 1975: a punk band records what will be their only song on the night their label folds. Nobody will hear it. They play it anyway, and leave a mysterious silence in the middle of the track — a few seconds with no explanation.
Director Yoshihiro Nakamura adapts Kotaro Isaka's novel across four time periods — 1975, 1982, 2009, and a near future where a comet is days from impact. The song keeps surfacing, pulling strangers into its orbit and nudging history in ways none of them can trace. Gaku Hamada, Kengo Kora, and Atsushi Ito lead a cast that sells the central conceit with a straight face. A quiet, deadpan film about the unlikely reach of a moment nobody witnessed.
