About

Synopsis

"Jack Irish: Black Tide" (2012) is an Australian crime telemovie you can watch online on iFILM. Jack Irish used to be a lawyer. A former client murdered his wife. He lost his practice on the same day. Now he fills the hours with horse racing, woodwork, and a barstool at his father's old football club.

Des Connors, the last person who still talks about Jack's father in the present tense, calls asking for help finding a missing son. Jack agrees — not for the money. Guy Pearce plays the role without elevation: low energy, flat affect, entirely convincing. Director Jeffrey Walker adapts Peter Temple's crime novels with the same unhurried rhythm as Melbourne on a winter afternoon. Stream "Jack Irish: Black Tide" (2012) on iFILM.
