Synopsis
Mother, Couch (2024) is a deadpan drama-comedy you can watch online on iFILM — a Danish-Swedish-American co-production directed by Niclas Larsson in his feature debut. An elderly woman sits down on a display couch in a run-down furniture store and refuses to get up. No explanation. Just no.
Her three adult children — who share a mother and very little else — have to figure out what to do. Ewan McGregor, Rhys Ifans, and Taylor Russell play them; Ellen Burstyn plays the mother; F. Murray Abraham is the store's quietly peculiar owner. That cast is doing something more serious than the premise suggests, and Larsson lets the situation expand into a slow-burn family allegory.
