The Gromov family — several generations of women sharing one apartment — has finally agreed to sell. Buyers lined up, deposit spent, plans locked in. One problem: Dima, the alcoholic ex-husband who walked out years ago, is still legally registered at the address. He won't sign off. He won't stop drinking either. What he will do is continue making their lives as difficult as possible.
Out of reasonable options, the women turn to unreasonable ones. A dark comedy about the Russian housing question as a contact sport — and about the particular misery of sharing a legal document with someone you've spent years trying to forget.
