A telegram from Masha, a schoolteacher in a small Ural town, pulls him off his route. He gets there too late: she died without seeing him. What remains is a house, a debt — her teenage daughter, nicknamed Mukha, torched a local official's home and the bill is outstanding — and a girl with no interest in the stranger standing in her doorway. His co-driver says to walk away. Fyodor doesn't. Kravchenko carries scenes on almost nothing, and Evgenia Dobrovol'skaya makes every minute of her screen time count.
