Synopsis
The Nest (2020) is a psychological drama written and directed by Sean Durkin — watch it online on iFILM. Jude Law and Carrie Coon play Rory and Allison O'Hara, a couple whose marriage begins to buckle under the weight of Rory's ambition.
Rory uproots his American family from their comfortable suburban life and brings them to 1980s England, where he has convinced himself that old connections and a grand rented manor house will translate into serious business deals. The deals don't materialise. Money bleeds out faster than it comes in. Allison, who gave up her equestrian life and her footing to follow him, watches the gap between what her husband promises and what actually exists grow wider by the week. Rather than tell the truth, Rory doubles down — with lenders, with his family, with himself.
Durkin is less interested in collapse as spectacle than in what it costs a person to keep a fiction running. Coon does the heavier emotional work here, and she's riveting; Law is compelling precisely because Rory never quite breaks. Stream The Nest online on iFILM.
