Shahid

Shahid (2013) is an Indian drama directed by Hansal Mehta, available to watch online on iFILM, with Rajkummar Rao as the title character.

Shahid Azmi spent his teenage years in a militant camp, walked away, put himself through law school, and spent the next decade defending clients no one else would take — men jailed on terrorism charges with nothing but a label against them. He'd seen both sides of that system firsthand, as a Muslim from Mumbai who understood exactly what it meant to be a convenient suspect. In February 2010 he was shot dead in his own office.

Rao picked up India's National Award for Best Actor, and Mehta took the directing prize. The film doesn't turn Azmi into a symbol — it shows a man full of doubt and fear who kept showing up to court anyway. Watch Shahid (2013) online on iFILM.
