Juan of the Dead

Juan of the Dead (Juan de los Muertos, 2011) is a Cuban-Spanish zombie comedy you can watch online on iFILM, written and directed by Alejandro Brugués — Cuba's first zombie film.

Havana is overrun. Official media says dissidents paid by the U.S. are behind the disturbances. Juan, a forty-something slacker with no career plans, doesn't buy it — and doesn't care. He spots an opportunity: assemble a crew, print some flyers, charge the neighbours to dispose of their infected relatives. Business is booming until the dead start outnumbering the paying customers.

Brugués uses the zombie premise to skewer Cuban bureaucracy and state-media spin with a light touch — more irreverent comedy than straight-up gore, though it gets messy when it needs to.
