Synopsis
Playground (Un monde, 2021) is a Belgian drama you can watch online on iFILM. Laura Wandel's debut feature opened in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes and was Belgium's submission for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. Maya Vanderbeque plays Nora, a first-grader who starts a new school alongside her older brother Abel.
When Nora sees Abel being bullied, she tells their father — and Abel makes her swear to stay out of it. Wandel shoots the entire film at Nora's eye level: adults tower out of frame, other kids loom close, and the schoolyard never looks small or manageable.
