Synopsis
The Yellow Eyes of Crocodiles (Les yeux jaunes des crocodiles, 2014) is a French drama from Cécile Telerman, ready to watch online on iFILM. It centers on two opposite sisters: quiet Joséphine, a scholar of medieval France raising two daughters, and dazzling Iris, a socialite who married well.
Joséphine's husband walks out to breed crocodiles in Kenya with a younger woman, leaving her broke. Iris, meanwhile, has bragged at a Paris dinner that she's writing a novel set in the twelfth century — a lie she can't take back. So she talks her sister into ghost-writing the book under her own name. Neither expects it to become a national bestseller, and once the money and fame arrive, every old resentment the sisters had buried comes spilling out.
Adapted from Katherine Pancol's hugely popular novel, the film leans on Julie Depardieu and Emmanuelle Béart to carry a story about borrowed success, envy between women and the price of quiet dignity. Intimate, a touch soapy, but honest. Stream The Yellow Eyes of Crocodiles (2014) online on iFILM.
