Synopsis
Anatomy of Hell (Anatomie de l'enfer, 2004) is Catherine Breillat's provocative drama, available to watch online on iFILM. A woman pays a man simply to look at her across four nights in a house perched on a cliff — to watch her, she says, during the hours when she is unwatchable.
He has no desire for women at all, and that is exactly why she chose him. What passes between them is no romance but a cold experiment about fear, disgust and the pull of the female body. Amira Casar and Italian performer Rocco Siffredi carry an almost wordless duel, each night stripping away another layer of shame and of everything left unsaid.
Breillat adapted her own novel Pornocracie and pulled no punches: this is less a story than a dissection of where male contempt for the female form begins.
