Synopsis
The Important Man (Ánimas Trujano, 1961) is a Mexican drama from Ismael Rodríguez, available to watch online on iFILM. Its lead is Japanese star Toshiro Mifune — arguably the strangest piece of casting in his whole career.
Animas Trujano drinks, throws dice and gambles away every last peso while his patient wife keeps the household alive. Yet he clings to one outsized dream: to be named mayordomo, the man his village trusts with its treasury and its festivals. That honor usually goes to the wealthiest and most respected — everything Animas is not. So he reaches for it through a crime that could cost him everything.
