Seagull

Seagull (Chaika, 2023) is a Russian romantic drama you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Polina Lazareva, it follows Valentin Chaika (Yuri Bykov), a bitter writer worn out by his own books, adrift in a big city where everyone reaches for closeness and almost no one holds onto it.

Chaika is stuck between two women. One loves him plainly and stays; the other slips away, teasing, never letting him pin her down. He won't choose, and the waiting quietly wrecks both of them. Vera Kincheva, Olesya Zheleznyak, Alexander Lazarev Jr. and Svetlana Nemolyaeva round out a cast that carries this small, unhurried story about the cost of selfishness.
