Synopsis
The Great Yawn of History (خمیازهٔ بزرگ, 2024) is an Iranian parable from director Aliyar Rasti you can watch online on iFILM. A man keeps dreaming of a box of gold hidden at the far end of a cave. His faith forbids him from claiming the treasure himself, so he hires a non-believer to do it for him.
The two set off across scorched Iranian landscapes chasing a miracle. One is driven by religious scruple, the other by plain greed, and the fault line between them is where the film lives. The farther they travel, the more people are tempted by their gold, until the treasure hunt becomes a game of hide and seek between faith and human frailty. Rasti's feature breakthrough moves slowly, built on pauses and desert light, closer to Kiarostami and Panahi than to anything plot-driven. Not for viewers craving action; very much for those who love allegory, dry humor and silence. Stream The Great Yawn of History (2024) online on iFILM.
