Synopsis
Nothing Personal (2009) is a spare, meditative drama you can watch online on iFILM. A young Dutch woman gives away everything she owns and walks out into the empty landscapes of western Ireland.
Anne treats solitude as a kind of freedom. Wandering through Connemara, she comes upon the house of a hermit named Martin — older, dry-humored, just as committed to living alone. They strike a wordless bargain: she works for food, and neither asks anything personal. Slowly the distance both insisted on starts to close. Lotte Verbeek and Stephen Rea play it almost without dialogue, in glances and small daily gestures.
This is the debut feature of Polish-Dutch director Urszula Antoniak, honored at the Locarno Film Festival, including a best-actress prize for Verbeek. Harsh scenery, sparse talk, attention to silence — it rewards viewers who can settle into a slow rhythm and don't mind a film about being alone. Stream Nothing Personal (2009) online on iFILM.
