Synopsis
A Man of Integrity (لرد, Iran/Germany/Czech Republic, 2017) is available to watch online on iFILM. Director Mohammad Rasoulof made this film clandestinely and smuggled it out of Iran — one of the country's few filmmakers who keeps working despite repeated government bans and the constant threat of arrest.
Reza left Tehran to raise freshwater fish in the provinces with his wife and son. Quiet life. Until a local company tied to a corrupt powerbroker wants his land. He says no. What follows is a methodical grinding-down: debt traps, threats, fabricated charges, the slow contamination of his family. Lead actor Reza Akhlaghirad carries almost the entire film in near-silence.
