Synopsis
There's a Woman Lives in the World (1959) is a Soviet drama by David Karasik you can watch online on iFILM. Trouble strikes the spinning floor of a textile mill when worker Zoya Semenova is badly hurt in an accident. Part of the shift points the finger at shop manager Galina Demidova, and a formal inquiry opens.
The case lands with investigator Sukhobokova, a blunt and stubbornly fair woman who refuses to hand anyone an easy verdict. She walks the workshops, talks to the weavers and to Galina's friends — and almost no one believes Demidova is guilty. Karasik builds the film around people rather than suspense: across two hours it becomes a portrait of a factory collective where a person's name is settled not by paperwork but by the women working next to her. A quiet, quietly stubborn picture for anyone who loves late-1950s Soviet cinema. Stream There's a Woman Lives in the World (1959) online on iFILM.
