Synopsis
A Samurai in Time (侍タイムスリッパー, 2024) is a Japanese comedy you can watch online on iFILM. In the dying days of the Edo period a warrior named Kojiro squares off for a duel in Kyoto, only for a lightning bolt to strike his blade. He wakes up on a film studio backlot in the modern day.
What follows is a gentle, good-natured fish-out-of-water tale. A man with a real sword and a real code signs on as an extra on the very period dramas that fictionalize men like him. He plays the fight scenes for keeps, because pretending was never in his training. Bit by bit he learns to navigate elevators, shooting schedules and stunt choreography, while quietly hunting the foe he was meant to cut down two centuries ago. Junichi Yasuda directs, with Makiya Yamaguchi in the lead.
