Geoffrey Bayldon plays the scruffy, muttering wizard who hides out on a farm with only a young boy nicknamed Carrot for company. He treats light switches and telephones as demonic tricks and keeps hunting for a way back to his own century. Writer Richard Carpenter dreamed up the character; across two thirteen-episode runs on ITV in 1970 and 1971, the hapless magician became a cult favorite for kids across Europe.
