The Houseboat (Das Hausboot, 2021) is a German documentary series you can watch online on iFILM. Musicians Fynn Kliemann and Olli Schulz take on a project probably too ambitious for them: renovate the houseboat of Gunter Gabriel — a genuine figure in German country music history who died in 2017 — and turn it into a working creative studio.

Neither of them knows much about boats. That gap between grand plans and improvised solutions is where the series lives. Directed by Regina Schlatter, it plays out like a renovation reality show crossed with a music documentary, with guests including TV host Jan Böhmermann dropping in as the project lurches forward.
