Set in the 16th century, the series tracks the brothers from their first voyages through their alliance with the ruler of Tunis, their running war against the Italian corsair Pietro — who is chasing the same secret on behalf of the Vatican — and their steady rise to power. Hizir eventually becomes Hayreddin Barbarossa, appointed grand admiral of the Ottoman fleet by Sultan Suleiman and turns it into a force that held the Mediterranean for decades. Engin Altan Düzyatan, internationally known from Diriliş: Ertuğrul, plays Hizir with the same physical intensity that made that show a global phenomenon.
