Synopsis
Red Chapel (Krasnaya Kapella, 2004) is a Russian wartime spy series you can watch online on iFILM. It follows the Soviet intelligence ring that wove its way across occupied Europe, all the way into Berlin.
The Gestapo nicknamed the network "the Red Orchestra." Its handler, Leopold Trepper, moves through Paris as a mild-mannered businessman named Jean Gilbert, while his radio operators feed Moscow the Reich's secrets one transmission at a time. Counter-intelligence is never far off, chasing the signal — a single slip and the whole ring goes down.
Directed by Alexander Aravin, the story is invented yet built on declassified files. Andrei Ilyin, Alexey Gorbunov and Dmitry Nazarov head a large cast across sixteen episodes that live on the knife-edge where an agent smiles at his enemy and wonders if he'll see morning.
