The Blue Whisper (与君初相识, 2022) is a Chinese fantasy romance you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Gu Zhi Wei and adapted from a novel by Jiu Lu Fei Xiang, it stars Dilraba Dilmurat and Ren Jialun.

Ji Yunhe has a rare gift for taming demons — and no freedom of her own. Confined to the Valley of Ten Thousand Flowers under a ruthless Immortal princess, she is handed a new assignment: tame Chang Yi, a merman from the Eastern Sea, by teaching him human speech and binding him to servitude. He is powerful, unaccustomed to human manipulation, and therefore, from her perspective, useful. She does not account for what happens when she starts to care.

The drama aired in two consecutive parts — 22 episodes in March, 20 more in April 2022 — making it one of the more substantial xianxia releases of that year. Dilraba Dilmurat brings exactly the kind of guarded intensity the role requires: someone calculating and tender at the same time, which is harder to pull off than it looks.
