Wild Isles (Season 1)

"Wild Isles" (2023) is a BBC natural history series you can watch online on iFILM, narrated by David Attenborough. Four habitats — ancient woodlands, grasslands, freshwater rivers and lakes, and the open Atlantic coast — and a quiet argument that Britain and Ireland are far stranger than most people who live there realise.

The camera crew spent multiple seasons at each location. The footage includes basking sharks off Cornwall, thousands of starlings in formation over Somerset, and red squirrels in the old Caledonian pinewoods — species most British viewers have never seen in person. As one of Attenborough's later productions it carries a conservation edge that earlier work didn't press as hard: the wildlife footage is extraordinary, but the urgency behind it is part of what the show is asking you to sit with.
