Synopsis
Con Stars (2022) is a Russian comedy series you can watch online on iFILM. A backwater prison is bracing for a high-profile international inspection, but neither the conditions nor the inmates' mood come anywhere close to presentable.
General Khobotov's fix is gloriously dumb: ship the real convicts off on a tour around the country and hire actors to play the happiest prisoners alive for a fat fee. It falls apart on day one. Some genuine inmates get left behind, the guards scramble to hide the diamond-smuggling racket they run with the cons, and the inspectors are about to see right through it. Andrei Merzlikin, Alexey Maklakov, and Yuri Chursin headline the chaos, where everyone is lying to everyone at once.
