Two detectives sit at the top of the Investigation Committee's honour board in a small provincial city. Off the board, they go out of their way to avoid each other. Razin is blunt, fast and indifferent to protocol. Udalov treats every procedural rule as load-bearing and will not bend one, even when a colleague pays for it. A new case forces them to work side by side.
