Cerberus (Season 1)

Cerberus (Цербер, 2023) is a Russian period detective series you can watch online on iFILM. The setting is St. Petersburg in the cold months after the December revolt on Senate Square has been put down, and a special commission is methodically pulling surviving plotters out of their homes and estates.

Many of them are given up by informers. Then those very informers start dying — one after another, brutally, and on display. Beside each corpse the investigators keep finding the same scrap of paper, scrawled with lines from the verse of a young, not-yet-famous Alexander Pushkin. Someone is punishing the traitors and signing the work with a poet's words. The tangle is handed to two men who trust each other not at all: a sharp Moscow sleuth and Alexander Boshnyak, a nobleman freshly let out of custody with his own grudge against the crown.

The show lives where costume drama meets a grim murder hunt: an era of crushed rebellion where a denunciation is currency and survival comes from the right signature, not the truth. Sergei Marin, Timofei Tribuntsev and Evgeny Tsyganov hold the tone without overplaying it. The 18+ rating is fair — the killings are not softened.
