Monty Python: Almost the Truth (The Lawyer's Cut) (Season 1)
Synopsis
Monty Python: Almost the Truth (The Lawyer's Cut) (2009) is a six-part documentary available to watch online on iFILM. For the first time in years, all five surviving Pythons — John Cleese, Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones — sat down together and went on record across forty years: childhood, Cambridge, the pre-Python work, Flying Circus, the films and Spamalot.
The series draws on archive footage of Graham Chapman and interviews with associates including Carol Cleveland, Neil Innes and Chapman's partner David Sherlock, plus commentary from a generation of comedians who grew up on Python. What makes it more than a standard retrospective is its candour — old creative disputes resurface, credit gets contested, and nobody is performing nostalgia for the cameras.
