Synopsis

1 Litre of Tears (1リットルの涙, 2005), Season 1 — an eleven-episode Japanese drama you can watch online on iFILM. The series is drawn from the real diary of Aya Ikeuchi, who was diagnosed with spinocerebellar degeneration at fifteen.

Eleven episodes trace Aya from a completely ordinary high-school life through the moment the diagnosis lands, then through every slow rewrite of what normal looks like. Walking, then struggling to walk. Talking, then losing words. Writing — still writing. Fuji TV's drama earns its place not through heavy-handed sentiment but through the discipline of one girl's actual words: spare, specific, and honest in a way fiction rarely manages.
